Term 4 Project: Phase 4 Comprehensive Layouts

Term 4 Project : Business Web Site

Phase 4: Comprehensive Layouts

Overview >   Phase 1 >   Phases 2 & 3 >   Phase 5 >   Phase 6 >
These images represent the rough layouts presented for client approval. They were created entirely in Photoshop/Fireworks and saved as a psd or png file for maximum visiblity for the client.

The comp should reflect the size(s) of the average customer's monitor screen. Some designers create templates to reflect the browser's "real estate" area of the site.

Original comp graphics were sized at 755x415 pixels to reflect viewable area on an 800x600 monitor.

The viewing area on a 640x480 monitor is 595x295 pixels.

*The images on this page were resized and optimized for the web.

Comp Layout 1:

The images and text are "dummies" so as not to distract the client from the overall page layout. Also, it is common to not receive the actual images, logos, and text from the client until further into the design process.

Comp Layout 2:

The only difference with this comp is the font used on the main navigation bar. It is the same as the title logo. Due to readability issues, a plain verdana font was chosen instead.

After a rough comp is chosen, a comp of the interior pages will be created and submitted for approval.

At this point in the design process, color schemes, fonts, and the "feel" of the sight should be approved by the client. The client will either suggest changes or approve a comp.

If a comp is chosen at this point, have the client sign off on his/her approval.
