During this meeting, it is also important to get ideas for the main menu/navigation items.

Also, is the client interested in seeking
affiliate sponsors, including a site survey,
offering something for free, using a shopping cart or other online payments?

These need to be decided fairly early on in planning as they will affect the overall site design.

Other important issues to cover with the client early on:

  • Color schemes & preferences
  • Font preferences
  • Their logo design or yours?
  • What "mood" they want to project?
  • Who supplies the photos and graphics?
From this meeting the web designer will create sketches, a storyboard/site map and rough layouts to present to the client at the second phase of the approval process.
